I’m not usually so indecisive with covers, but I’ve got three potential covers for Of Monsters and Love, the next New Canton Republic book, and although I kind of know which one I like best, I’m not absolutely sure which one is best for the series.
Choosing the first cover (smoke) will mean it’s time for an update to all of the covers for the series, but it might be worth it. :D
But here they are. I’m calling them 1 (smoke), 2 (armpit), & 3 (bossy).
If you have a preference, I’d love it if you left a vote in the comments for the one you think I should use! :)
Here’s an update: In the end I went with something else altogether. I couldn’t decide and figured maybe that meant something about the covers I had to choose from. I hope you like the new, official cover, and thank you so much for commenting on the covers above!
I’ll admit, the cover does give a few clues about the book! ;)
2 has a very nice backgroung going on, I think th best of them all, but this armpit is a bit awkward I think? :D I actually can’t decide between the three of them! 1 and 3 are nice, but 3 has a very light backgroud maybe if it was darker..? But I like the fact that he has a shirt on LOL
I can see why you have a problem with a cover and now I have a problem too! Because of nice background 1 and 2 are my favourites ;)
LOL. Armpit guy is pretty though. :D My problem is that I like skin, so I find those images very striking. ;) But maybe I should have guy 3 on background 2! I would be in so much trouble though if I had another cover to choose from!
One is probably my favorite, followed by two. I’m not as fond of three. I also like skin though.
I really do like skin. :D I’m sure the covers for the rest of the series make that pretty clear. ;)
Smoke and armpit, *snicker* sorry that’s just funny, are my favorites just because they seem to catch the eye a little more. I like bossy ok but it doesn’t grab my eye like the other two. Can’t wait to see what you choose :)
LOL. I knew I’d get confused by numbers alone and that armpit is just right there. :D The fact is, maybe that fella should have been on one of the Wolves’ Heat covers because those particular aliens really like those armpits! ;)
“maybe that fella should have been on one of the Wolves’ Heat covers because those particular aliens really like those armpits! ;)”
LOL, that was what I was thinking!
Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to read the series *these* covers are for, so my opinion isn’t very informed, but frankly I like cover 2. :)

These stories are quite a bit different than those in the Wolves’ Heat series, I think, although… lots of similar themes, I guess. :D Uncontrolled urges to mate, etc, etc—that’s kind of where my heart is. ;) Definitely more humor—I think. But I find weird stuff funny sometimes so who knows! I do my best. That’s all I can do, and I just hope someone enjoys what I write. :D
As for the covers, I get lots of feels when I look at pictures. I become attached to the people I imagine them to be, and then I feel bad for abandoning them for someone else. I’ve managed to do it with all three of these and so my dilemma! Who to choose? :o
If no 3 had no shirt and no 2 background I think it’s be a winner :D
LOL. I could see that working very well indeed.
I prefer #1 – although the placement of your name and the title are different from the previous covers, the swirl-ies around the guy are reminesent of the other covers. Plus, I like the skin. :-)
Armpit is a bit awkward, although he is pretty (as you say), but both #2 and #3 seem too… normal? I mean, the Monsters books are set in a fantastic world with monsters and paranormal (for us) things going on. Covers 1 and 2 seem like the stories would be about guys in some mid-west small town where the love interest is the new sheriff who moved to town. Not that I don’t like those stories, too!
But, Monsters covers should invoke a feeling that the story takes place in New Canton.
Good points! :) I had liked #1 a lot but thought I probably wouldn’t go with it, so I decided to use the swirly for the new covers for the Hend & Yurt stories. I have to say, I’m in love with the cover for one of the future books in that series and so I must now reserve the swirly for those books. ;) I can’t go back to not loving that cover and it would break my heart not to use it. So, it’s back to the drawing board on this one, I think!
Great covers all of them! Any new release coming out soon? Just curious. :)
I already know there’ll be a new R’H’ani story out this month (His to Take) and probably the follow up story too (His Only Weakness), and Of Monsters and Love is so close, but it just might not be possible for me to get it out before May. But I am trying! :) After that, it could be a tie between Gerald’s Lot and Gay for Alex—they’re both coming together nicely. ;)
I prefer ‘bossy’. But honestly, I’d buy it with a plain black cover – just publish it!
I’m working on it, seriously! :D Of Monsters and Love is so close, but it just might not be possible for me to get it out before May. But I am trying! :) The early part of this year kind of sucked and it really put me behind. But things are going really well now and I’m thinking I’ll definitely be able to get several books out finally.
Yay! Hope the rest of your year goes more smoothly :)
Thank you!
Maybe it’s time to change description of ” Of Monsters and Love” since it’s way past the “early2016” :) Might confuse people. Wish you luck in writing I hope it’ll get published soon!
Just fixed it. Unfortunately, I’d forgotten to check that! Thanks for the heads up. :D
New cover looks great :)
Thank you! I’m glad you think so. I like it a lot. And that is so Rafe on the cover. He’s a perfect fit. :)
Is this book still a thing or what? it was supposed to be out like 8 months ago and then date changed like 5 times and now I ‘m confused
I’m sorry for the confusion! Yes, this book is still the next book I plan to release. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific with a release date, but I promised myself I wouldn’t estimate dates again since my track record for getting them right is so bad. It’s bad enough being disappointed with myself—I really hate to disappoint other people!
Unfortunately, I’m not that fast of a writer, and it’s been a tough year. I’ve had some significant delays with my writing to deal with, but I do have several books almost ready to release, including this one. I have a lot of hope that the last half of this year is going to be much better and I’m going to get several books I’ve been working on out the door.
I really am sorry that I haven’t been able to get this one out sooner!
I think of writers the same as artists – always at the mercy of their muse. Then when you throw every day life in it can be a bit much. People who don’t understand that need to develop more patience. So don’t feel bad. Just keep doing what your doing and know that the majority of your fans are waiting patiently in anticipation. Thank you and have a nice day :)
I must admit I’m more at the mercy of my muse than I need to be, and interruptions in my routine really affect my writing. I haven’t had much luck changing that over the years, even though I’ve tried. But I can totally see how frustrating it is to be left waiting! I love reading, it’s my favorite thing, and it is definitely disappointing when I have to wait too long for a follow up from someone. So I hate it when I’m the one making people wait.
I really do appreciate your patience, but if you ever feel the need to poke me about a book, I really don’t mind. I assume everyone knows I’m doing the best I can to put out more books, because I love writing them and I love telling these stories! If you want to know where I stand on anything in particular, it’s always okay to ask. :)
Just wondering if you know when the next book in New Canton Republic and in Wolves’ Heat will be out?
Thanks! Love your books!
Lesha
I’m thinking I’ll finally get the New Canton book out very (very!) soon. Gerald’s Lot will be just a bit longer, after Gay for Alex, which will be out by the end of October (really!), or even possibly sooner. I’ve been feeling like Of Monsters and Love would be ready for so long that I’m starting to feel a bit crazy. But I think Rafe and Agg have been worth it. They’re definitely a couple of my favorites from the series, and I’m so in love with Agg that it’s not funny. ;)
